Quick answers
Is it really free? What's the catch?
No catch. Listing is free and using the site is free. There are no paid upgrades, featured spots or lead fees. A few local businesses sponsor a trade in their county to keep the lights on, and they're always labeled "Sponsored".
How do you decide who's listed first?
Up to six sponsors per trade per county sit at the top, always labeled "Sponsored", and they take turns in the top spot. Next come businesses that claimed their free listing, then everyone else. Each group shuffles every time the page loads, so two visitors rarely see the same list and no free listing is stuck at the bottom. More on how listings are ordered.
Do you check licenses?
Where a trade needs a Florida license, we show the license number on the listing with a link to the state lookup so you can confirm it's active. We don't sell badges, and a listing is not an endorsement. Always ask for a certificate of insurance too. See Before you hire.
I need help right now. Who do I call?
In danger? Call 911. For shelters, food and FEMA help, dial 2-1-1. Your county's emergency management office is on our relief and government help page.
My work doesn't need a state license. Can I list?
Yes. Tree crews, debris haulers, board-up and similar work don't carry a state contractor license. You're listed just the same.
We're a nonprofit, church, shelter or relief group. Can we list?
Please do. Food, water, shelter, supply drives, volunteer crews, legal aid: list it free so neighbors can find you.
Do you sell my information?
No. Neighbors contact businesses directly from the listing. We don't resell information or make anyone bid against anyone.
Who's behind this?
Love Local Media, the local team behind LoveItLocal.org, WaltonBuilders.org and BayCountyBuilders.org. We live here too.
A listing is not an endorsement. Where we show a license, confirm it's active at myfloridalicense.com. Before you hire, ask for a certificate of insurance, get it in writing, and never pay the full job up front.
